Shamarria is a student at the University of Florida studying telecommunications at the College of Journalism and Communications. Shamarria has a passion for storytelling of diverse and underrepresented populations. Her work at WUFT FM – Gainesville allow her to interact with various populations covering news media for 19 counties in North Central Florida. She has reported live for local elections, breaking news, and severe weather. Shamarria is the current president of the Gator Chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. In this role she educates peers and audiences about the coverage and representation of multicultural people in media. When she is not looking for stories, Shamarria enjoys reading, listening to podcast, and travelling. Her free time often leads back to a story. With her phone, laptop, and wifi Shamarria always has a mobile studio nearby. She is always prepared to update social media and the newsroom on a story.
